Buckled Romper

First post of 2016. Naturally, I have been reflecting on this past year as everyone sets resolutions for the upcoming one. 2015 was one of the most challenging years of my life. I overcame obstacles I never imaged I would, and become far more in tune with who I am along the way. Despite my challenges, I wouldn’t change it for the world. They made me who I am today, and far stronger than I ever was before.

Midnight Shimmer

This time of year is my absolute favorite for many reasons. Maybe I have a slight obsession with Christmas since I was born on Christmas Eve, delivered to my mother in a bright red stocking. If that didn’t ignite my Christmas spirit I don’t know what did! It baffles me how people get so stressed around the holidays. I notice a significant increase in road rage, which I find especially amusing. It’s supposed to be the happiest time of the year! Drink some spiked hot cocoa and chill out.

The Iconic: David Sims

David Sims is the modern day muse of the fashion industry. He gained recognition in the ’90s while shooting for magazines such as i-D and The Face. Initially known for his stark modernism, his work has evolved over the years to capture emotion and movement. American Vogue proclaimed Sims was “setting a new standard for fashion photography,” which he continues to do today as he shoots the biggest names in the business.

Denim on Denim

Denim on Denim: A look I can’t seem to get enough of. I also can’t get enough of burgundy these days, which is lovely because it is everywhere you look! Hey, I’m not complaining. My goal has been to adapt more color into my daily dress, and I think this is a good start. Baby steps.

Winter White

Who says you can’t wear all white in the winter? There are really no rules in the fashion industry, so break out your palest hues and hop on the winter white trend. As a fellow New Yorker, I love wearing all white in a crowd full of black, navy and grey. It instantly makes me feel fresh and clean.

My go-to Monday style essentials are sneakers and a comfortable pair of culottes. This casual look is ideal for a day filled with running errands. I paired these pinstripe culottes from River Island with my all time favorite white platform sneakers from Adidas.

Artist: Egon Schiele

Egon Schiele will always be my favorite artist. I fell in love with his ability to create confrontational portraits with his signature nervous and loose line work. This signature graphic style welcomes distorted figures and defies conventional norms of beauty, which is one of the many reasons he is my favorite artist. Personally, I find the average standards of beauty to be very boring. I love any artist or designer who goes beyond these contrived norms and makes the viewer feel something new, even if it is initial discomfort. To me, that is intriguing. As a leader of expressionism, his imagery is deeply psychological. There is much more that meets the eye.

Pink Sneakers

Pink is not a color I normally admire. However, I couldn’t resist purchasing this pink coat and sneakers. It was my first time shopping at OOTD Store and it wont be my last. I have been looking for pastel shoes for quite some time, so when I saw these cotton candy colored sneakers I knew they would be really fun and east to style! The athleisure trend isn’t going away anytime soon, so shop my favorite sneakers below.

Longline Car Coat

My search for the perfect longline coat came to a halt when I found this one from Forever 21. This style is super hot right now, and I am excited to pair it with a hooded sweatshirt next! I finished my look off with my Adidas Superstar Rize sneakers, which I am scrubbing religiously after every wear.

Aero Vintage T-Shirts

My best friend Stefani Rose has been immensely involved in rebranding Aeropostale. As the Associate Manager of Social Media, she is responsible for running both sub brand accounts Live Love Dream and Tokyo Darling, while still creating content for Aero. For this shoot, Stefani worked with my brother to create lifestyle images for Aero’s vintage t-shirt collection. I had a lot of fun modeling the t-shirts as well as watching Stefani’s vision for the shoot come to life. This campaign was shot during our trip to Acadia National Park in Maine, a trip I will definitely never forget.
